On February 15th, 2006, Coach Jim Johnson made a decision that changed both his life, and the life of his team manager, Jason McElwain, who is autistic. Coach Johnson put Jason, (known as J-Mac), into the Greece Athena basketball game, and before his eyes, history was made. In four minutes, J-Mac scored 20 points, and earned accolades from around the world.
Coach Johnson and J-Mac visited Nativity Preparatory Academy on Wednesday, February 15th, the eleventh anniversary of this memorable event, to share their story and shoot some hoops with the students of Nativity. The visit included an assembly where Coach Johnson and J-Mac shared some inspirational thoughts, followed by a basketball clinic in the school gym. Our guests took photos and signed autographs before they headed home. It was a memorable day for the Nativity Prep community!
